{"id":1841,"date":"2016-04-11T18:10:37","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T00:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.natsci.colostate.edu\/cnsit\/?p=1841"},"modified":"2021-09-24T16:34:46","modified_gmt":"2021-09-24T22:34:46","slug":"prevent-windows-from-automatically-updating-to-windows-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/prevent-windows-from-automatically-updating-to-windows-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Prevent Windows From Automatically Updating to Windows 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With Microsoft becoming increasingly more aggressive with the Windows 10 update notifications, I thought it was a good time to create an article with some tips on how to prevent an accidental upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>First, the easy way (and recommended way).\u00a0 Download the following standalone app called the GWX Control Panel here: (<a href=\"http:\/\/ultimateoutsider.com\/downloads\/GWX_control_panel.exe\">http:\/\/ultimateoutsider.com\/downloads\/GWX_control_panel.exe<\/a>).\u00a0 Download it, run it, and then click the \u201cDisable Get Windows 10 App (permanently remove icon)\u201d button.
