{"id":1987,"date":"2017-08-08T15:18:27","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T21:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.natsci.colostate.edu\/cnsit\/?p=1987"},"modified":"2022-04-25T14:42:35","modified_gmt":"2022-04-25T20:42:35","slug":"chemistry-research-building-it-information-for-the-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/chemistry-research-building-it-information-for-the-move\/","title":{"rendered":"Chemistry Research Building: IT Information for the move!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I would like to use this post to maintain some important information regarding IT and the impending move to the new Building!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Card Readers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Card readers are currently being worked on by facilities.\u00a0 Some work, some do not.\u00a0 We will keep the department updated, and alert everyone via the departmental e-mail list once these are all online.\u00a0 Thank you for your patience!<\/p>\n<p><strong>VOIP Phones<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>IMPORTANT!\u00a0 DO NOT MOVE YOUR PHONES TO THE NEW BUILDING.\u00a0 These need to remain where they are so that Telecom can officially move them.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As of this moment, all VOIP phone orders have been submitted.<\/p>\n<p>For existing phones in offices, move orders have been submitted to Telecom who will physically transfer the phones to their new locations.\u00a0 We do not have an exact schedule for this, so expect that there is at least a small amount of time where your existing phone is offline.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Network Data Jacks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a best effort, we have requested that in all areas of the building, half of the data ports are patched and live.\u00a0 So, for each wall plate of ports, half will be active, starting with the top left port.\u00a0 If you need additional ports activated, you can request this via a <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/help\">CNSIT ticket<\/a> &#8211; please be sure to indicate the port number, room number, and PI\/Lab along with the purpose for the port activation.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to this, all network ports in known computer heavy rooms will be active, including Graduate Student Offices as well as the Faculty Collaboration Rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The best way to know if a port is active is to plug it in and see if you can browse the Internet!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wireless Network<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As with the rest of campus, the CSU-EID network is ready and functioning (as of right now) in the new building!\u00a0 Any devices configured to use this network will function normally without any additional configuration.\u00a0 If you encounter an area where this isn&#8217;t the case, please submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/help\">CNSIT ticket<\/a> with as much information about the area and device in use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Networked Printers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the new building, comes a new network and subnet.\u00a0 So, things like printers will all need to be reconfigured.\u00a0 The simplest way to do this is to just remove the old printer, and re-add it with its new IP address.\u00a0 However, those IP addresses need to first be set.\u00a0 So, as your printer moves to the new building, let CNSIT know, and we can assign a static IP and assist in setting up the computers in the group!<\/p>\n<p>So, the process we will take in connecting a computer to the &#8220;new&#8221; printer is to just remove the old one.\u00a0 Then, just follow our normal network printer setup directions with the new IP Address.\u00a0 Those directions can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/printer\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/printer<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>How To Get Help?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The best way to get help during this process is to submit a CNSIT ticket &#8211; at the following URL: <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/help\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/help<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I would like to use this post to maintain some important information regarding IT and the impending move to the new Building!
