{"id":2444,"date":"2018-08-13T09:34:44","date_gmt":"2018-08-13T15:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.natsci.colostate.edu\/cnsit\/?p=2444"},"modified":"2022-08-02T09:23:07","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T15:23:07","slug":"rstor-how-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/rstor-how-to\/","title":{"rendered":"RStor: How To"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This article is designed to help you connect to an RStor network share.\u00a0 If you are unsure of what an RStor share is, check out the following article and let us know if you still have questions: <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/rstor-has-arrived\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/rstor-has-arrived<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Off Campus?<\/h2>\n<p>If you are off campus, be sure to first connect to the CSU VPN client.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/csu-vpn-duo\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/csu-vpn-duo<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Connecting to RStor<\/h2>\n<p>Now that you have a new RStor network share, how do you connect to it?\u00a0 At its core RStor is just a network share, where users with the proper access can connect, and collaborate in a common data store.\u00a0 After you request access to RStor through CNSIT, you will be given a Share Name, this is the variable used to identify the correct path when connection.\u00a0 Below are syntax examples for Windows and MacOS:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Windows<\/strong> &#8211; Explorer-&gt;&#8221;Map Network Drive&#8221; syntax (<a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/mapping-a-network-drive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/mapping-a-network-drive<\/a>)<em><br \/>\n\\\\campusrstor1.onefs.colostate.edu\\natsci\\<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">YOUR_SHARE_NAME<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>MacOS<\/strong> \u2013 Finder-&gt;&#8221;Connect to Server&#8221; syntax<em><br \/>\nsmb:\/\/campusrstor1.onefs.colostate.edu\/natsci\/<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">YOUR_SHARE_NAME<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Authentication<\/h2>\n<p>RStor requires a valid CSU NetID account to use.\u00a0 Depending on whether your machine is domain connected, you may need to specify the COLOSTATE domain before your NetID while authenticating as shown below:<\/p>\n<p><em>COLOSTATE\\NetID <\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Managing RStor<\/h2>\n<p>To update details of your RStor share, you will most likely have to contact CNSIT by submitting a ticket: <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/help\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/help<\/a><br \/>\nThis includes the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adding\/Removing access to members (DIY Guide: <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/manage-rstor-group-access-with-grouper\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/manage-rstor-group-access-with-grouper<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Increasing\/Decreasing your storage quota (Increases may occur at any time.\u00a0 Decreases may occur annually.)<\/li>\n<li>Modifying the account code used for charges (&#8220;53&#8221; accounts cannot be used for RStor, unless the associated project explicitly states this is allowed.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article is designed to help you connect to an RStor network share.\u00a0 If you are unsure of what an RStor share is, check out the following article and let us know if you still have questions: https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/rstor-has-arrived Off Campus?
