{"id":2769,"date":"2019-01-25T16:56:03","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T23:56:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.natsci.colostate.edu\/cnsit\/?p=2769"},"modified":"2022-04-25T14:40:45","modified_gmt":"2022-04-25T20:40:45","slug":"configure-onedrive-client-for-macos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/configure-onedrive-client-for-macos\/","title":{"rendered":"Configure OneDrive Client for MacOS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this article I will walk you through connecting the OneDrive client for MacOS to your CSU O365 personal OneDrive space.\u00a0 The first step is to download and install the latest OneDrive client from the Mac Store.\u00a0 You can find this by searching for &#8220;OneDrive&#8221; in the search area.\u00a0 Alternatively, you can download the .pkg installer directly from here: <a href=\"https:\/\/aka.ms\/MacFilesOnDemandBinary\">https:\/\/aka.ms\/MacFilesOnDemandBinary<\/a>.\u00a0 Once that is installed, you can launch it by entering in &#8220;OneDrive&#8221; into your MacOS Spotlight search.\u00a0 When it is running, you will notice the &#8220;cloud&#8221; icon in the task bar (as shown in the screenshot below).<\/p>\n<p>To start the connection process, you will select this OneDrive &#8220;cloud&#8221; to proceed.\u00a0 The next dialog window will allow you to choose this location.\u00a0 Unless you have good reason to alter the default, you are advised to keep this in the root of your user profile.\u00a0 The screenshot below shows this dialog.\u00a0 Select the &#8220;Choose this location&#8221; button to proceed.\u00a0 The next dialog window to appear will ask you what OneDrive content you would like available locally using the OneDrive sync client.\u00a0 It is recommended to leave all content selected as shown in the following screenshot.\u00a0 Select the &#8220;Next&#8221; button to proceed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2785\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2019-01-24-at-6.42.08-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"694\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2019-01-24-at-6.42.08-PM.png 694w, https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2019-01-24-at-6.42.08-PM-300x265.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You should now be all set!\u00a0 This final dialog window will confirm the setup.\u00a0 You will also notice a check box for &#8220;Open at login so my files sync automatically&#8221;.\u00a0 It is recommended that you select this choice so that OneDrive starts up when you log in to your computer, and your content is always up to date.\u00a0 At this point, you can open your local OneDrive folder by selecting the &#8220;Open my OneDrive &#8211; Colostate folder&#8221; button.\u00a0 This resides in your user profile and can be located at any time from within the MacOS Finder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2786\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2019-01-24-at-6.42.21-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"694\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2019-01-24-at-6.42.21-PM.png 694w, https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Screen-Shot-2019-01-24-at-6.42.21-PM-300x265.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Enable On-Demand for OneDrive<\/h3>\n<p>One demand is a very useful feature that should be enabled to save local hard drive space.\u00a0 More information on this can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/mac-onedrive-client-files-on-demand\">https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/mac-onedrive-client-files-on-demand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To enable On-Demand functionality, select the OneDrive icon from the upper task bar, and choose the &#8220;Preferences&#8221;
