{"id":3229,"date":"2020-02-03T09:35:48","date_gmt":"2020-02-03T16:35:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.natsci.colostate.edu\/cnsit\/?p=3229"},"modified":"2022-04-25T14:36:44","modified_gmt":"2022-04-25T20:36:44","slug":"creating-a-google-account-transferring-files-with-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/creating-a-google-account-transferring-files-with-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a Google Account &#038; Transferring Files with Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Storing and transferring files with Google Drive is a good solution for when the file size is too large for Onedrive to sync and share (over 15 gb).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Navigate to mail.rams.colostate.edu<\/li><li>Click on \u201cLog in to Google Apps\u201d link on top of page<\/li><li>The next page will tell you that log in is not possible for your account, but you can still create one clicking on the \u201cCreate an Account\u201d link<\/li><li>Accept the terms about having extra email account at CSU<\/li><li>Click on Create Rams Account button<\/li><li>Once the base account is created you will click the next button which creates an alias for your new @rams.colostate.edu account (it automatically created the same alias that I have for Office 365 email just with rams added to address)<\/li><li>Close your browser down and relaunch it then navigate to mail.rams.colostate.edu<\/li><li>Click on \u201cLog in to Google Apps\u201d<\/li><li>It will now redirect you to gmail and have you confirm that your new <a href=\"mailto:eid@rams.colostate.edu\">NetID@rams.colostate.edu<\/a> is correct<\/li><li>Once you confirm that it\u2019s correct you will now be logged into gmail<\/li><li> From gmail you can click on the button  <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3230\" style=\"width: 29px\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/G-Suite-1.png\" alt=\"\"> on top right to access apps such as \u201cDrive\u201d <\/li><li> To upload files\/folders to \u201cDrive\u201d click on  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"126\" height=\"54\" class=\"wp-image-3232\" style=\"width: 126px\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Upload.png\" alt=\"\"><\/li><li> From \u201cDrive\u201d you can upload files and folders to then share them with the  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"28\" height=\"29\" class=\"wp-image-3233\" style=\"width: 28px\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Share.png\" alt=\"\"> button<\/li><li>There are a few different methods for sharing with \u201cDrive\u201d<\/li><li> You can create a link to the \u201cDrive\u201d and anybody who you send the link to can access the drive to view it\u2019s contents or download them  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"536\" height=\"439\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Sharing-with-link.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Sharing-with-link.png 536w, https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Sharing-with-link-300x246.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 536px) 100vw, 536px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li> You can also enter specific email addresses to link other people\u2019s accounts to the \u201cDrive\u201d which gives them access  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"505\" height=\"299\" src=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Sharing-with-invite.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Sharing-with-invite.png 505w, https:\/\/cnsit.colostate.edu\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Sharing-with-invite-300x178.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Storing and transferring files with Google Drive is a good solution for when the file size is too large for Onedrive to sync and share (over 15 gb).
