Your CSU NetID Account

Your CSU NetID is your university wide username.  This, in combination with your CSU password, is what you will use to gain access to almost all resources you have access to.

CSU VPN and DUO 2-Factor Authentication

Access to most services will now require the use of 2-Factor authentication.  Immediately after you establish your CSU NetID you should be sure to enroll a device with DUO as your second factor authentication source and set up your devices (laptops/phones/etc.) for use with the CSU VPN.  Establishing a CSU VPN connection is required for off campus access to many resources including department servers, CSU library resources, etc.

Set up your DUO using the information from this page: https://cnsit.colostate.edu/kb/duo-best-practice

Set up your devices to use the CSU VPN: https://cnsit.colostate.edu/kb/csu-vpn-duo

Your E-mail Account (M365)

Your CSU inbox is where mail sent to your CSU e-mail address is delivered.  There are many aliases for this e-mail address, but all are delivered into a single e-mail inbox.  One such alias is your First.Last@colostate.edu.
You can edit the first name portion of this alias at https://netid.colostate.edu

All new graduate students now receive an M365 account.  This has a 100GB quota, and can be accessed using the online portal https://portal.office.com. NOTE: You must log in with your username in the following format to all M365 services NetID@colostate.edu.  You can also set up a laptop or mobile device using directions found on the following page: https://it.colostate.edu/m365-apps-and-csu-software

You can also set up a forward from your CSU M365 e-mail to some other address using the Settings in the M365 web portal at https://portal.office.com.

Microsoft Office 365 (M365)

M365 also comes with a few other cool bits.  First, Microsoft Office, the actual client installed software, can be downloaded and installed on up to 5 personally owned computers per account.

Microsoft OneDrive is also available, and currently boasts 5TB of cloud based file storage!  Check out this URL for more information: https://cnsit.colostate.edu/kb/cloud-storage-for-personal-data

All M365 services can be found using the portal at https://portal.office.com

Your Personal Computer

You should check out the following page on the status of any software licensing deals that are available:
https://cnsit.colostate.edu/kb/what-software-site-licenses-are-available

CSU-NET Wifi Access

You can access Wireless on campus from almost everywhere.  When looking for wifi, please only select the ‘csu-net’ SSID.  This will take your CSU NetID as authentication.  You can find more information about CSU-NET here: https://it.colostate.edu/wireless
